Hi Ken- My name is Sharon and I wanted to let you know that I adopted a poodle chihuauha from your website 3 years ago. Although Poncho's description was for a 4 month old, 5 lb, non barking, non-shedding dog, he was 11 pds, sheds like crazy and never quits barking. I literally searched 1300 pictures for a puppy and knew when I saw his pic that I had to have him. I had him flown to Coeur d'Alene, ID from California and at the time California was experiencing some huge fires. Poncho had ash all over him and he had fallen into the swimming pool. He was VERY clingy. My husband and I went from having 2 big out door labradors to this "yahoo". He had huge separation anxiety when we would leave him alone, so needless to say, I searched the internet for a companion. I found a poodle terrior at Beagles and Buddies and they are the best of friends. These dogs have changed our lives. They have more clothing than I do, and are more spoiled than any child I have ever encountered. I wanted to share my story because I can't tell you how many times people ask me why I just didn't adopt from the local pounds. The answer is because in the Coeur d'Alene, ID/Spokane, WA area, there are literally no small dogs available. I also get asked why I didn't just buy a purebred puppy. I spend as much on these two and their airfare that I could have purchased a purebred, but these pets needed homes desperately. I know that I will always own pets and I will always adopt. I visit your website weekly and have encouraged friends and family to adopt as well. Thank you for keeping it updated in a timely manner and thank you for your efforts in finding these furrie babies homes!  Dixie ADOPTED!Poodle,Labrador Retriever Size: Large Notes: Dixie was found as a stray in the Phoenix area. She was never claimed by her owners. Dixie is probably one of those designer "Labradoodles" who is cream in color and has a more or less straight coat. However, Poodles have straight coats when they are puppies, there does not to be any shedding. We do not even think this girl is a year old. She is a very healthy weight and probably weighs 35-40 pounds. So far she has been quiet and is submissive in her foster home. Dixie needs to be spayed, then she will be ready for her new home. Smokey was rescued from a kill shelter a little over a month ago and is a wonderful older puppy. He is healthy and has been brought up to date on his shots and is neutered. He is a large boy - a standard labradoodle, now 8 months old. He does shed some but to many that just means less brushing and maintenance of his coat. Sweet, labradoodle in PLATTSBURGH, NY Leno is approx. 15 months old. He does shed, but not too bad. His coat is wavy, and his appearance is more of a Lab. He is really great with kids, and he is a awesome family pet. He loves to swim, play in the snow, hiking, and wrestling around...but he is gentle. I also call him my little cuddle bug. He's very friendly and doesnt bark or growl at anyone in a aggressive way. He knows sit, lay down, high five, left paw - right paw, and catch (when you throw a treat). We are looking for a GOOD home for our Cockapoo Addie. She is a beautiful dog and has had very pretty pups. She has a food allergy and we have not been able to find out what the food is and now she is on z/d food that we get from our vet.  Crackers ADOPTED!Poodle,Golden Retriever Mix Size: Medium Notes: Crackers is an 8 month old Golden Doodle who weighs about 30lbs. He still has some filling in to do as he's a bit on the thin side now and kind of tall and lanky. He's a pup at heart who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His best friend Cheese and him play all day. He doesn't necessarily have to have another friend, but he does well in a setting with other dogs. He's pretty calm for a Doodle. Of course once he's truly settled in his home, he will probably become more active, but won't be over the top like a Golden puppy. Crackers was at the shelter with several other dogs in his run. He managed to navigate that well, even being surrounded by some not so friendly personalities. He's a politician at heart and doesn't mind having to win people over. He has that gift. Amy is an active, smart very alert young dog. She loves to run and play but inside is very happy to snuggle up on the couch next to you. She is aware of all new sounds and noises and will bark to alert you of what she hears. She can be a bit fearful of new people and new situations but if ignored and allowed to keep her distance she will eventually warm up and come meet the new people. She needs continued work on feeling comfortable in new situations with lots of people. She does great with other dogs and has never lived with out one. A preferred home would be one with no children under 13 and another dog to keep her company. Amy would benefit from someone who understands dogs and can be calm and confident with out any fear or nervousness when Amy is fearful of a new person or situation. Amy's ambition is to please - she would be fantastic in obedience and agility - it would help her socially and build her confidence. People buy these breeds not realizing that they do indeed need to be groomed, and often! Breeders tell buyer that poodles mixed with labs do not shed and do not require grooming..... this is a total fallacy. Perhaps in some cases this is true but not in most. Many do require grooming and many do shed....it depends on who the pup gets that gene from. These are "before" pictures and when we have them all groomed we will post "after" pictures. It is also a myth that long hair dogs don't get Heartworms. Three of the poodle mixes are positive for heartworms and will require expensive and painful treatment. This is Mikey. He is probably around a year old and he is a little shy at 1st but warms up fast and really loves attention. In my opinion he is the cutest of all the ones in this rescue. He was the most matted of all the "designer dogs" and will probably have to be totally shaved but it will grow back. His adoption fee is $200 and includes all his vet work.  Poe ADOPTED!Great Pyrenees,Poodle Mix Size: Extra Large Notes: Early in July a SPINner received a call from a concerned onlooker - someone is shooting at puppies. They sped to the rescue and sure enough there was Poe and his two sisters being used for target practice. They scooped them up and carried them to safety. Now one look at these little ones and you knew right away that not much good had happened to them. Poor Poe was nearly bald from mange, had some souvenir buckshot embedded in his side and ears that the flies had pretty much used for snacks. All that is behind him now and he is a happy, barky, fiesty little man who is happy to be in the middle of everything. Poe and his sisters are not all Pyr but you can bet they have that wonderful Pyr personality. They are about 5 months old now and since everyone needs a birthday we will say theirs is April 25, 2006. He is a VERY big pup and will grow up to be a VERY big dog. Despite his rough start he is laid back, very smart and affectionate. He's looking for a family to call his own, he's very interested in this "family" thing. You see he is learning about having humans who love him and care for him and will let him just be a puppy and he likes it, he really likes it.  Midnight ADOPTED!Standard Poodle,Labrador Retriever Size: Large Notes: She is a 9 month old labradoodle weighing 70 lbs. She has been spayed is crate trained, house broken, leash trained, up to date on shots, monthly hw preventative and flea/tick medicine. Midnight is a beautiful doodle who is both black and chocolate colored. She is still a puppy and full of energy. She loves to play with our dogs, go on walks, swim, play with our children or just hang out with the family and watch tv. She is a true delight for a family that wants a high energy dog and ideally has another canine playmate for Midnight. She plays with our 10 pound shitzu mix up to our 80 pound Black Mouth Cur.
