Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue took in 24 dogs from puppy mills in the Midwest. These two giant schnoodle mommas are 4-5 years old. They seem to be pretty happy go lucky girls. Both are black schnoodles with medium curlier coats. Their tails are docked but they have natural ears. They will be groomed today so will have better pictures up in the next few days. These girls have had their last litters and can now concentrate on just being a well loved dog. We have no idea about kids or cats. They all seem to do really well with other dogs.

Mill dogs are some of the most special dogs around. Particularly the older ones as they are so grateful for getting out of jail and being taught how to love and play and just be a dog instead of being treated like livestock whose sole purpose it is to make money for hte miller.

This poor dog was dumped at one of the local recycle centers. Its so sad her owners treated her like trash and rid of her this way. She came in matted and dirty (she does need to be shaved). Alaska is a good girl. Its heart breaking that after being treated like a useless piece of broken furniture she is still upbeat and outgoing. Its obvious she has more faith in humans then many people. She is a great dog. Friendly towards people and other dogs. Calm and gentle. Rides well in cars and leash trained. Obident and alert. Seems to be very intelligent. Excellent family pet. Pleasant and willing to please. Big enough to take for long walks but small enough to snuggle with on a couch. Coat requires regular grooming. If hair kept long, it will need to brushed at least twice a week. Daily walks on a leash will keep her in top shape. Please give Alaska another chance. She needs to know there are people who do care and who are responsible pet owners. Alaska is about 4 yrs old and weights around 40 lbs. The adoption fee on this dog is $125.00. Spirit in TN

Posted 10/30/07. Spirit was purchased by a breeder with the intention of using her for breeding golden doodles. The breeder had her hips checked and the vet discovered very slight hip dysplasia. He felt that Spirit should not be used for breeding as she could pass the defect on to her puppies, but that the condition was not severe and she would be OK as a pet. The breeder decided to turn Spirit and her sister, Cheyenne (on our pet list), over to us.

Spirit was born in August 2004 and weighs about 57 pounds. She tends to be a nervous, anxious dog. She also tends to bark a lot and will bark non stop when crated. She has been a kennel dog all of her life and is a very pushy dog...so this means she is *NOT* house trained. Spirit needs an especially dedicated adopter with a firm hand and a good understanding of what it means to be a pack leader. Her adopter MUST be willing to work with her on a daily basis and ensure that she gets PLENTY of exercise. She is rather difficult to groom but could get better with more time spent with grooming. Spirit is people and dog friendly. She is microchipped with a HomeAgain microchip.

She is up to date with vaccinations and has been spayed. Spirit's adoption fee is $125.

We have had many applications for Spirit and not even one applicant has followed through once they ponder her behavioral issues. This is why we have entered as much information as possible regarding the issues with Spirit. Notes: Magnum arrived at our shelter on 4/20/07. They had him down as a Giant Schnauzer Mix, but I really think he is a Labradoodle. Age: 6-7 yrs size: 73.0 lbs He was a stray that no one reclaimed. Has some hair loss on his back. Very well behaved, quiet and very calm. However he will growl at larger dogs, but is just fine with smaller dogs.
